SOUTH CHARLOTTE
MYERS PARK

Myers Park is populated by some of the city's oldest and largest houses. Myers Park's streets are lined with towering oaks, the remaining originals of which were raised on James B. Duke's New Jersey estate before being transplanted to the new development. Designed by John Nolen of Boston in 1911, Myers Park was initially a "streetcar suburb" whose residents commuted to town via electric trolley. Nolen discarded the original grid street pattern of Uptown and Dilworth and instead planned curving avenues following the area’s topography. Myers Park is largely a product of the building boom of the 1920s.

SOUTHPARK

SouthPark is an upscale residential, retail, hotel and business district in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is geographically located in south central Charlotte, about 6 miles south of Charlotte's Center City. In addition to being home to Southpark Mall, a large, upscale shopping center, SouthPark is also an affluent residential center and one of the largest business districts in Charlotte and the state of North Carolina.

Office buildings are spread throughout SouthPark, including several hotels and a host of other upscale retail centers, such as Piedmont Town Center, Phillips Place, Sharon Corners, Morrocroft Village and Specialty Shops on the Park.

SouthPark's name derives from the fashionable SouthPark Mall, an upscale shopping center with a number of other high-end stores, including Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co., and Neiman Marcus. The mall is the centerpiece of the SouthPark area. Other shopping venues include Phillips Place, Sharon Corners, Morrocroft Village, and Specialty Shops on the Park. All include shopping and dining options.

SouthPark is one of Charlotte's largest business districts. Office buildings are spread throughout the area, including The Rotunda Building, with its eye-catching fountains, SouthPark Towers, and Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated. SouthPark is the home to the Fortune 500 company Nucor, as well as National Gypsum, Coca-Cola Consolidated Bottling, Piedmont Natural Gas and J.A. Jones Construction Co. Maersk, Bank of America Mortgage, First Citizens, and CSX have major divisional operations located in SouthPark.

Piedmont Town Center is a development of offices, shops, restaurants and a branch of the YMCA. Piedmont Row condominiums are also part of the complex, offering luxury one-, two- and three-bedroom units. When completed, residents will enjoy the rooftop pool and terrace, where they can catch a glimpse of the Charlotte skyline.

SouthPark is also the home of the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops concerts, performed at the new amphitheater at SouthPark. These free evening concerts are one of the mall’s two signature community events. The other is a Christmas tradition – the annual Christmas tree lighting, which takes place on Thanksgiving Day and features caroling and a visit from Santa.
